How does a wireless doorbell work?
A wireless doorbell is composed of a waterproof push button intended for outdoor use, and a chime, communicating together through radio frequencies. Some models also plug directly into electrical outlets. 1. Define the location of the button
Straightforward, make life easier for your visitors and place the door station of your device in the immediate vicinity of your entrance. This must be accessible both by car (house with exterior gate ) and for a visitor arriving in front of the front door of a small 20 m² studio. The recommended height is therefore between 1m20 and 1m50.
2. Fix the button
Once the location has been defined, insert the flat, AA, or AAA battery and secure the assembly using the screws and dowels supplied with the kit. To do this, you need a few tools, and:
- Mark a mark on the wall using a spirit level to level it,
- Position the base of the button (plate) on the line,
- Mark the drilling locations with crosses,
- Drill with a drill adapted to the nature of the wall,
- Sink the ankles,
- Screw the plate ,
- Clip the front of the button.
All you have to do is attach the small label with your name! To complete, also know that some kits are supplied with a very resistant adhesive strip; the latter allows the button to be fixed in an entrance, without having to drill. Rather practical in the building!

3. Set chime location
The advantage of radio wave operation is that you have some freedom as to where the modules are placed. It is customary to install the chime in the entrance, but it can find a completely different place in a dwelling! Finally, don’t forget that you can equip yourself with several horns. Do you live in a house with several floors? Is your office far from the entrance? Provide an alarm in these different rooms and adjust their volumes to your liking. Are you a musician working in a basement studio? Opt for a chime with an alert by light flashes. This will prevent the sound of your rehearsals from masking the speaker alert.
4. Pair the modules
Kits sold commercially are generally pre-paired. Factory programmed in the plug and play way, they must be able to work instantly! If this is not the case, consult the instructions for your kit to interface the button and the chime.
