The news is by your side.

Diablo 2 Resurrected does not allow cross-play, only cross-progression

Everyone has been eagerly awaiting the release of this remastered version of Diablo 2, and now that it has, it’s easy to see why. By playing Diablo 2 Resurrected (D2R), we can relive all our favorite adventures but in a much more enjoyable and eye-catching HD environment. However, die-hard fans of the game never stopped playing it in the first place. But now that we have this improved version of the game, another important question seems to be on everyone’s mind. Of course we can buy cheap D2R items easily but can we actually play Diablo 2 Resurrected?

There’s no cross-platform multiplayer in Diablo 2 Resurrected

Obviously, the way we traditionally think of cross-play, or cross-platform play, in games these days is the ability to play with people on other platforms. As much as we hate to be carriers of advertising news, we must inform you that there is no chance for you to meet up with your friends online in Diablo 2 Resurrected if they are playing on different platforms. This highly requested feature is not part of Diablo 2 Resurrected at this time and we don’t know if there will ever be one.

The developers said it was not possible to implement because there are different user interfaces and control schemes between Nintendo Switch and PC compared to PlayStation and Xbox. So if you have a friend you want to party with but they’re on PlayStation and you’re on your PC, well, there’s no partying, which is a bit of a shame.

But, if we think about it, other massive games like Apex Legends, for example, didn’t have crossplay at launch and it actually took a few years to implement.

And while we can’t completely rule that out, don’t make it your goal to wait for it, or you might be disappointed.

Since we’ve already shared the bad news, let us sweeten the pot with some news you’ll actually enjoy. Although you can’t team up with friends playing on other devices, you can progress in Diablo 2 Resurrected. This is a huge success for Blizzard, as everyone will surely love to continue their progress in the game in the format it has.

This means that if you enjoyed playing Diablo 2 Resurrected until late last night on your PC, you can still play it on the go the next day, on your Nintendo Switch, for example. Yes, you heard right. And all you need to do this is your BattleNet account as well as the version of the game for the specific gadget you plan to use it on. You can also use your purchased items like D2R ladder items.

So, if you purchased this title for PlayStation 4 or 5, Xbox One, or Series X/S/One, Nintendo Switch and PC, you can continue your progress on all these devices, provided you have access to the BattleNet account. This is still amazing news, given that this versatility will ensure that people can enjoy their favorite game no matter where and what they play it on. We’ll always be keeping an eye out for cross-play news, but like we said, don’t get your hopes up just yet. Blizzard is working on a lot of games right now, including Diablo IV since we were on this topic, so don’t expect that to be available anytime soon, if at all.

What do you think of this cross-platform situation? Whatever your opinion is, you need to visit P2Pah to get more info about D2R!
